Service Description

Spark an interest in computer science and STEM for your 6th-8th grader! Join us for a 9-week series of computer science classes with the award-winning Piper Computer System! The Piper Computer Kit is the ultimate DIY computer kit, designed to be put together like a wooden puzzle before diving into an interactive world of learning and play. Students learn the basics of engineering, coding, and computational thinking. Play Piper StoryMode while learning the fundamentals of circuitry and computer science while following instructions in MineCraft! Move on to PiperCode to learn how to code and use sensors. Great way to learn about computer hardware and software. Sign up today. Spark an interest in engineering and STEM for your K-2nd grader! Join us for a weekly series of STEAM workshops to introduce your future engineer to mechanical, structural, aeronautical engineering and design! These fun, hands-on projects will get your student excited about STEAM! The four projects will include: Tinkerwagon - Students will use simple materials to design and build a vehicle that can be pushed and/or pulled and carry a payload. Gumdrop Challenge - Students will build the tallest, free-standing structure using toothpicks and gumdrops. Rubber Band Helicopter - Students will design and build a paper helicopter with a propellor powered by a rubber band. It actually flies! Simple catapult - Students build a simple catapult using craft sticks, rubber bands and a spoon. Who can launch things the farthest? We are a Blue Ridge Academy contractor.
